Paddling the Fleet

The Fleet is a narrow channel of water that sits behind Chesil Beach, a massive bank of shingle (18 miles) that runs parallel to the land. The water behind is tidal, although it doesn’t follow normal patterns due to the inner harbour, and the nature of the shingle bank. The current can be fierce so caution is advised. We played it safe (especially as we don’t often paddle in tidal waters) but it was a lovely paddle. At the end we went under the road bridge and pulled our boats up onto the beach for a drink in the local cafe. Perfect.
