Remembering Venice

Sunshine has been in short supply 😦 and consequently not too many outings of late, let alone pics.

So I’ve dug up these from Venice.

We found a company offering canoe trips through the back “lanes”, and turned up expecting to be part of a group, but in the end it was just Andy & I, plus the guide. Fantastic.

It was really hard work, as the boat wash meant that paddling was more challenging than you might expect – crossing the Grand Canal was like crossing a motorway.

But we saw a completely different side of the city. A more human side, less glitzy, full of small observations. More real.

By the end the salt water coated our arms, and we were tired-tired. But it was wonderful.
