Garden overwhelm

My new garden. It needs work…. lots of work. For starters it has been much neglected by the several years of tenants rather than loving owners. It turns out so far there are precious few flowers – lots of shrubs in various stages of leggy overgrowth. About 2 daffs. A nice pond. Not much else….

Something Fishy

We went to see someone who sells koi. He had a covered pond with the most enormous fish. The photos just don’t do them justice but they were genuinely beautiful. Hypnotic. I could have watched them for hours. Photos a bit challenged under the quite tricky lighting / water conditions – and I hadn’t come…

Cambo Snowdrops

This year’s offering of Snowdrops comes from the Cambo Estate up in Fife. It was bracing, and I had the most horrible cough, but the snowdrops were lovely. They go all the way to the sea. We even had a few flakes of snow, although they didn’t stay. Here are some specialist ones: And here…

We moved / planting

We moved house. I should have pictures of boxes. I don’t. I have some pictures of broken things for the insurers. But maybe that’s not so interesting. So I have bulbs – the promise of new life. It feels appropriate. I have felt bereft of gardening this year. We sold our house in Feb, but…

Autumn Garden

My tomatoes mostly spoiled while we were on holiday – isn’t it always the way! A few could be salvaged. The garden is full of marigold and borage. They seem to glow in the sunlight.

Summer Sarah Raven

Perch Hill – Sarah Raven’s garden – one of her occasional openings. Oh the colours! It’s photography heaven. Here are some flowers.

Harvest

From my aunt’s garden – blackcurrants from one bush. I love their purple sheen. Hopefully some fruit picking for us this weekend. Jam to follow.

More Gardening…..

A few more pics of the garden at it’s best – midsummer days. Lovely. I’ve borrowed Andy’s little Canon Ixus, but it’s not as good at close ups as my older (and now sellotaped together) Ixus, which is a shame, as I can’t get my flower pics to focus properly 😦

Garden update

A few pics from the garden, from a couple of weeks ago. It’s already come on even more than this. I love the way everything rushes towards midsummer.
